I have been lucky enough to work with a huge variety of clients on creating logos for their new businesses or starting from scratch with established companies. These include schools, music festivals, accountants, apps, fitness companies and more.

Woking & Sam Beare Hospice and Wellbeing Care is a patient-led charity that delivers palliative and end of life care to people who have advanced life-limiting illnesses living in North west Surrey.

I have long been a supporter of the hospice and was absolutely thrilled when they asked me to take on their graphic design needs. Working closely with their marketing and press team, recent projects have included designing issues of Inspire magazine which highlights the amazing fundraising that is vital to keeping the hospice and their services running, marketing material for their ever-popular Dragon Boat Race and to promote their Wellbeing Centre, their latest Impact Report, and shop front signage.

Linking Social Causes with Professional Skills

Link Up London offers short-term, flexible volunteer projects that utilise volunteers’ professional skills to make a meaningful differences to local Social Good Organisations.

In 2021 , Link Up partnered me with CIC Fayre & Square who needed a graphic designer to put together their first annual report.

When Link Up decided they needed an impact report to showcase their own achievements in 2021, they came to me. Each subsequent year they have expanded their remit and returned for my services to visualise their continued success. They had a vast amount of information to communicate so I work with them to create a visual language, initially informed by their existing logo, website and brand colours.

At the end of the 2021 project, Kim Perlow, CEO of Link Up London, said:

“Just want you to know that we are so happy with it; it is better than we could have imagined. We are incredibly grateful for your time and expertise in doing this. It is going to make a huge difference for us to have something this professional to share especially as we build out our corporate programme. “

After many years visiting a plethora of fabulous Surrey-based artists during the Surrey Artists Open Studio events, in 2021 I was thrilled to be asked to come onboard as the designer for the programme, posters and social media images.

Following on from the success of the June events, I have also designed the marketing material for smaller SAOS events in October 2021 and in the run up to Christmas 2022.

Delight is a charity that works in partnership with schools across Surrey to provide immersive, curriculum-linked arts experiences that broaden pupils’ horizons, increase self-esteem and better engage them in learning.

I have been working with Delight over the last couple of years to help consolidate their print communications, such as teacher resource packs that guide teachers through the Delight programmes and essential evaluation reports that show how their work enhances the schools with which they collaborate. The branding is bold and clear with use of specially commissioned handwritten text and hand drawn illustrations throughout.

I have worked with Oxford May Music since their inaugural festival in 2008. The festival features lectures and concerts attended by a varied audience in this vibrant city.

The design is bright and inviting, to reflect the May Day bank holiday celebrations for which Oxford is famous.

ARGO is bi-annual magazine published by The Society for the Promotion of Hellenic Studies. Its aim is to appeal to a broad audience of Hellenophiles, with content that is authoritative yet accessible, topical, lively and well-illustrated.

Last year the Society approached me to breathe new life into the design of Argo and I have enjoyed designing the two latest issues, working closely with the editor Daisy Dunn to make sure we hit the brief.

Through my role as a skilled volunteer with Link Up London I have been paired with some amazing charities to design their impact reports. It gives me a chance to flex my design muscles as the charities often haven’t developed their brand guidelines beyond a logo and website so there is a degree of artistic freedom to explore how to convey lots of different pieces of information in a coherent and eye-catching way.

Freewheelers Theatre & Media Company are a diverse and creative company of people with disabilities based in Leatherhead, Surrey. They work alongside directors, producers, composers, artists and writers, to co-create and produce engaging, thought-provoking, funny, joyous and highly entertaining theatre, dance, film, and music. Their first impact report benefited from some amazing photography of the myriad events from the year.

Fayre & Square is a community project selling unique ​gifts and offering ​retail training placements to individuals with barriers to employment. They were thrilled with the result which helps them explain their project to existing and prospective supporters.

Hoe Valley School opened in September 2015 in response to the growing need for extra secondary school places in the South Woking area.

The team behind the new school approached me during their initial consultation period to bring together their vision for their initial logo which represented raised hands inside a leaf shape. Their application was approved and so we could move into the next stage of the design process.

At the time, there were no pupils, no confirmed site and no head teacher so the design for the prospectus had to be easily updated. The solution was a folder with separate inserts that could be quickly designed, printed and included as new information arose.

As the opening date approached, the HVS team asked me to design the badge that would adorn the school blazers and the circular design was so popular that it was quickly adopted as the school logo across all media. 

By the end of its first academic year, with plenty of images of the pupils and updated information about the curriculum and new school site, it was time to redesign the prospectus to reflect this. An A4 brochure was seen as the most cost effective option whilst also being easy to distribute to primary schools across the Woking area.

Rochman Landau*, a law firm based in Baker Street, London, needed a brochure to reflect the scope of its employees in this competitive market.

Working with a photographer and copywriter we produced a sumptuous brochure which interweaves the company's story with local lore.

At Harrods my design work covered all aspects of the business from shop floor departments such as Beauty and the Food Halls to Harrods Card marketing and internal staff communications.

Hyde Park Residence
Situated on Park Lane, Hyde Park Residence boasts perhaps the most luxurious serviced apartments in London.

They asked for a piece of marketing material that reflected this but which could also be updated with personalised information for each customer or prospective resident.

The A5 folder has plenty of space to let the images speak for themselves plus a pocket for their letterhead to slip into and business cards slits too. The text is minimal yet emphasises the premier service residents can expect whilst living there.

Many of the designs I created for Waterstone's included my own illustrations and photography – such a thrill to see my work on every high street in the country.

Northern Lights Symphony Orchestra

The NLSO specialises in playing music by composers from countries where the Aurora Borealis can be seen.

Each season's brochure takes light and movement as its inspiration.

Cheltenham Music Festival

Cheltenham Music Society approached me to update the look of the programme for their annual chamber music festival.

I took inspiration for the design from the festival's venue, the Grade I listed Pittville Pump Room, which is topped by a magnificent domed ceiling.

Music at Plush

Music at Plush is a festival run by the Brendel family in delightful Plush, Dorset.

Led by the beautiful setting and intriguing church that is its venue, the festival brochure design uses bold colours and imagery to show off this diverse festival.

ON! Juniper produces organic lip balms and bath bombs that put girls' health and happiness at the forefront. Inspired by the colours and patterns found in Pop Art, the branding is attention-grabbing and visually appealing to tween- and teenagers as well as their parents.

Work included a new logo, illustrations showing the different flavours, labelling and information cards for products, banners and promotional material.

My Vegan Search is an app which provides help and information to vegans and people who want to go vegan.

I was tasked with creating a logo that encapsulates the reach of the App but also stands out from the usual vegan aesthetic. This led to designing page treatments and icons for the app to continue the bright and inviting feel; followed by designs for stationery and a flyer which was used to promote the app within a healthy snack box.

Print advertising is still an important part of brand awareness and clients require eye catching designs to attract new customers. From national press to high end magazines a polished, professional advert will always stand out from the crowd.

Even in the digital age, printed flyers are still a cost effective way of advertising products, services and events.

An eye-catching design and a simple message are paramount.
